Quick Answer: If you see a “Connection is not private” error on Android, the two most common fixes are installing certificates or turning off the Google app’s in-app browser.
Note: This guide is for Android only. If you are seeing this issue on Mac, you can find the fix here.
This Chrome or Google error is commonly triggered by CloudLocker’s certificate-based content filtering on Android devices. Chrome shows this error because CloudLocker inspects web traffic using a certificate, and the fixes below resolve that underlying issue.
Fix 1: Install Certificates
This issue often happens right after installing the filter.
First, open the CloudLocker app and try Synchronize Settings. Your device may install the certificates automatically.
If that does not work, follow the steps below.
Recent Android versions may require certificates to be installed manually from Settings.
Important: If Family Link is enabled on your device, you must temporarily disable it before installing the certificate. Family Link may prevent the certificate installation from completing. Once the certificate is successfully installed, you can re-enable Family Link.
- Open Settings and search for certificate.
- Select the option for CA certificate.
- Choose CA certificate again if prompted.
- Tap Install anyway on the warning message.
- Verify your identity using your password, pattern, or fingerprint.
- Go to Downloads > applocker. You may need to open the menu in the top corner to find Downloads.
- If the certificate is missing, download it manually here: http://manage.cloudveil.org/certificates/cloudveil_rootCA.crt
- Select CV1.crt and tap Done.

If certificates are already installed, continue to the next fix.
Fix 2: Turn Off the In-App Browser in the Google App
If certificates are installed, but the error only happens when opening search results from the Google app, the Google app’s built-in browser may be causing the issue.
- On the page showing the error, tap the 3-dot menu in the corner.
- Select Browser settings.
- If you do not see Browser settings, this may not be the issue. Make sure certificates are installed and contact support if needed.
- Turn off Open web pages in the Google app.
