Step 4: Supervising the Device
Important: Keep the device unlocked and open during these steps.
- Open SuperVisor on the computer.
- Connect your device to the computer using a USB cable that supports data transfer.
- Unlock your device and tap Trust if prompted.

- Your device should show up in SuperVisor, identified by the serial. You can find the serial on your device at Settings > General > About > Serial Number
- Click on the device to highlight it in SuperVisor and then click Next.
- It may prompt you to turn off Find My on the device if it hasn't been turned off.
- Also ensure the Personal Hotspot is turned off before proceeding.
- Click Next once done.
- SuperVisor will start to create a backup. The device may prompt for the passcode before the backup can begin. This process may take a few minutes or more depending on the size of the backup.
- Wait while SuperVisor creates the backup file.
- When the backup has been successfully created, SuperVisor will display: Backup is created. Starting supervising process. Do not disconnect the device...
- SuperVisor will then show the following: Follow the instructions on the phone screen. After iPhone restarts, unlock it to open the home screen, then click Next.
- After SuperVisor has supervised and restored the backup, you will be presented with screens to select Language & Region.
- When your device is at the Home Screen, click Next in SuperVisor.
- When the phone returns to the Home Screen and you click Next in SuperVisor, you may receive a message saying the Device is Locked or Can't access the device even if it is not.
- If the above happens:
- Disconnect the USB cable
- Reconnect it
- Unlock the device
- Tap Trust when prompted
- Click OK on the error popup
- Click Next in SuperVisor
- Wait for the Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile to install. When it's downloaded, tap Close on the Profile Downloaded notification on the phone.
- Your phone should now say "This iPhone is supervised and managed by CloudVeil." at the top of the Settings screen. Swipe down on the Settings page to reveal the top of the page.
Step 5: Installing the filtering profile on the device
Before proceeding: Confirm the device is supervised by swiping down on Settings. You should see: "This iPhone is supervised and managed by CloudVeil."
- Open the Settings app on the iPhone or iPad.
- Tap Profile Downloaded. (This will be located right beneath the Apple ID.)
- Tap Install in the upper right corner to start the installation process.
- Tap Install near the bottom of the page to confirm.
- Now tap Install in the upper right corner on the warning page.
- Next, tap Trust on the Remote Management popup.
- Finally, tap Done in the upper right corner.
It may take several minutes for the settings to take effect. To test the filter, you can visit 777.com. You should receive a blocked page.
Step 6: Turn Find My and Stolen Device Protection on
- Settings > Apple ID > Find My > Find My iPhone > Turn on Find My iPhone
-
Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Stolen Device Protection > Off
Troubleshooting
- If you receive "Supervisor backup error: mobilebackup2", please visit: Supervisor Backup Error: mobilebackup2 (-4)
- Not able to locate the Profile Downloaded located below Apple ID? Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and check if there is Workspace Services profile loaded. If there is no profile downloaded, plug the phone back into SuperVisor, highlight the phone, and click Next. The SuperVisor app will recognize that the phone is supervised and prompt to load the Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile.
